VfL Bochum

In Bochum, from Bochum, for Bochum! ...

VfL Bochum 1848 has been based at its home ground, the Vonovia Ruhrstadion, on Castroper Straße for over 100 years. Alongside the training facilities for the professional football players of the Bundesliga club, the office of VfL is also located at the stadium. These are connected by the Stadtwerke Bochum Lounge, which is available as an event location and provides plenty of room for individual requirements. Further capabilities are provided by the interior of the stadium including the stands, the press and media centre as well as carparks and open spaces. This means that alongside Bundesliga matches, the Vonovia Ruhrstadion “anne Castroper” can be used for many different types of events.

Planetarium

Welcome to the Zeiss Planetarium Bochum!

The central projector shows the starry heavens as seen from Earth - over 9000 brilliant stars shine above you in the ever-cloudless sky of the planetarium. Visit us for one of our events, for a planetarium show, because you are sure to want to see the stars - and we show them to you during our performances. They are held several times a day - except on Mondays - and are extraordinarily diverse. But the focus is always on the starry sky, and thus on our planetarium projector. Using state-of-the-art technology, it projects over 9,000 shining stars onto the huge dome - transforming bright day into night or a rainy evening into a clear starry night. The projector simulates the sky at any time and any place on Earth.

Tierpark Bochum

“Discover, understand, inspire, protect.”

The Tierpark + Fossilium Bochum sees itself as a modern environmental education centre. The special combination of the zoo and the natural history museum enables us to make the origin, evolution and diversity of life accessible and comprehensible to visitors.

Through the interaction of man and animal we wish to arouse fascination for the animal world and thus promote a respectful attitude towards animals and nature. This is the basis for creating a sustainable awareness for the protection of the environment, nature, animals and species.

Westpark

The Westpark - industrial culture and nature

The Jahrhunderthalle Bochum is located in the middle of the Westpark. A great deal has happened since the first construction phase of the Westpark was opened to visitors in 1999. In various stages of construction, the old wasteland of the Bochum association was harmonized with nature up until 2007, forming the Westpark as we know it today. For many residents of Bochum, the Westpark is a very special kind of recreational area. The industrial charm of bygone days can be experienced on foot or by bicycle along bridges, paths and steps. The Erzbahnschwinge bridge leads to the Erzbahntrasse, formally a mining railway route and now a path which is popular with cyclists and pedestrians and connects various industrial heritage sites. Many of the information boards give an idea of the bustling activity that took place in what is now a green landscape.
